Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic Workzone Course
To
provide direction for training requirements for personnel
involved in the planning, design, implementation, and
maintenance of work zone safety. Participants will gain
knowledge and understanding of the equipment, techniques and
procedures necessary to safely and correctly set up and maintain
traffic. The information offered in this course is designed to
upgrade the performance and knowledge of all personnel in safety
practices and legal aspects of establishing work zones on State
and Federal highways. By using visual and hands on techniques,
this course will enable the participant to set up a safe and
legal work area, as well as, create a safer environment for the
public when approaching work crews maintaining the highways.
FDOT (Traffic Engineering, Topic # 625-010-010-a,
page 1) states that persons possessing valid and verifiable
certificates from approved courses shall be the only personnel
approved to perform the maintenance of traffic activities for
which they have been trained.
This course is approved by the Board of Surveyors
& Mappers for CEU’s.
