AGGRESSIVE DRIVER / STREET RACING PROGRAM - 8 Hours
Purpose: Designed for drivers with multiple traffic
offenses and/or those who exhibit signs of aggressive driving.
It has been blended with the street racing program content
because of the problems of dangerous on Florida roadways. The
course is designed to change the driving attitudes and behaviors
that have caused offenders to receive traffic tickets, become
involved in traffic crashes, exhibit aggressiveness while
driving and engage in racing on our streets. MAY BE COURT
ORDERED.
Goal: Eliminating aggressive driving behaviors and racing on public streets while reducing traffic violations, accidents, citations and the accumulation of points on driving records. This is attempted through: Examination of the driver’s offense history; exploring the relationship between driving, holding a driver's license, and fulfilling basic needs; and discussion of laws and societal safety. The course stresses that the cause of most traffic tickets and crashes is not ignorance of laws, but rather failure to follow known traffic laws. Most traffic violations and collisions involve chosen behavior(s). Students are provided with options to choose alternative behaviors and strategies.
Course Content:
- Understanding the basic needs common to all humans.
- Defining the needs fulfilled by having a driver's license.
- Accepting responsibility and consequences for our actions.
- Establishing self-control.
- Identifying the cause(s) of violations and poor driving records.
- Identifying the advantages of maintaining a good driving
record.
Establishing and maintaining "safe driving" behaviors and attitudes. - Becoming familiar with the thinking and behaviors associated with aggressive driving and street racing,
- Gaining insight about contributing causes involved for each student, then identifying and choosing alternative behaviors to avoid aggressive driving and street racing.
Course Format:
- Eight (8) hour course divided into two 4-hour sessions.
- Maximum of 20 participants per class in a highly interactive format.
- Group sessions conducted by a trained and certified facilitator.
